VAM 30

 

This Variable Adapter – Module "VAM 30" consists of a vacuum-driven adapter frame. It is equipped with an internal spring-pin interface and allows expansion to 960 test points.

Cartridges can be changed in a few seconds and with a flick of the wrist, without any time spent on adjusting or setting up.

The exchange cartridges feature a separate, fully enclosed contacting unit.

The unique design enables the operator to use the exchange cartridge either as a vacuum cartridge or as a cartridge combined with the hold-down system. The individual configuration depends on the type of PCB being tested. In all cases vacuum is used as the driving force.

The base unit detects the type of cartridge automatically.

If a vacuum-type cartridge is used, vacuum will be applied to the cartridge assembly automatically, thus forcing the PCB against the antistatic seal. The test receptacle-plate and the PCB test-specimen are then forced against the spring pins.

If a cartridge with hold-down system is used, the vacuum will be applied directly to the cartridge base unit and hence to the hold-down frame as well. The vacuum is applied after closing the hold-down system.

The hold-down mechanics is forced down by a vacuum-driven frame at defined points. These points ensure a defined locking position of the PCB and move the PCB against the spring pins.

The hold-down insert can either be customised according to the test specimen or fitted with adjustable X-Y hold-down pins.
